Arizona-based Pivot has unveiled the next evolution of the Switchblade trail model.

The riders behind the handlebars of these 'do-it-all' bikes are evolving, and inevitably the bikes need to keep up with them. A trail special needs to excel on the trails, but it also needs to handle a bit of enduro racing, a bit of park riding, be strong on the climbs and should be rideable for a long, long time.

Improved in every way.

Evolution is a never-ending process, so there's always room for improvement. Even the legendary Pivot Switchblade. It's now even more 'round for everything' than ever before. Lapidary written sharpened the downhill characteristics and increased traction in tricky exits. These two directions are like fire and water. Inexhaustible food for thought for riders and engineers alike. The Switchblade shines from singletrack to park. From the graceful flow to the choppy image. From the mist in front of your eyes on the climbs to the fanatical stomping on the super-fast descents.

Geometry

Geometry has stretched the wheelbase, shortened the seat, refined the center of gravity for exits, calmed down in the gears, and a careful balance between all the variables has set up a dreamy handling. Rear structure lengths are relative to size. The stiffness of each size, thanks to the individual layup of the carbon, also corresponds to the sizes. Flip-chip allowing geo adjustment for rider preference, conditions or for fitting mullet wheels. Even deeper seatpost insertion with the highest travel to get the saddle even lower for situations and places where even a saddle very low is still not low enough. In all situations the new Switchblade is a more controllable, more powerful and more fun bike.

DW-link.

The precision-tuned DW-link with 142mm of travel now handles even smaller bumps, and they've worked on the "rollers" where even in ratatata fast bumps, they glue the bike to the ground. Setting up the Switchblade's kinematics was a big challenge. Making it handle the full spectrum of speeds, impacts, the harsh conditions of enduro racing, and precision functionality for complicated exits. It took what was necessary from the previous version, incorporating today's riding concepts, in the form of slow edgy trails and fast flowtrails. It borrowed a bit from Trail429 for the climbs and a bit from Firebird for the enduro breakdown. The setup of this DW-line is simply a masterpiece.

In summary.

It's made from our own top quality carbon. The stiffness is relative to each size, so that a petite girl doesn't ride the same stiff bike in size XS as a two-foot-tall hulk with a beard on size XL, or vice versa. Sizes XS to XL will satisfy riders from 149cm to 196cm+. DW-link kinematics with vertical shock placement provides 142mm of travel to the rear wheel. Flip-chip allowing fine tuning of geometry for rider's style or conditions. "High" position lifts the center and straightens the head angle by 0.5°. The fork has 160mm of travel. The seat tube can accommodate deep-set seatposts with the highest travel. The Switchblade is fitted with 29" wheels at the base, but is also built for 27.5"+ and mullet. It will accommodate 29" tires up to 2.5" wide or 27.5"+ tires up to 2.8" wide. The Switchblade is ready for tool containers made in collaboration with Topeak (Dock Ninja CO2, Dock Ninja Tool Box T16+, Dock Ninja Trifecta or Dock Ninja Tool Box Mini 20 Pro). All sizes can accommodate a bidon in the frame. Hoses or bowdens are routed noiselessly through a custom Pivot cable system. Colours are blue, black or pink - three hundred piece - limited edition "Talon".
