Canadian company 9point8 can be found on the western shore of Lake Ontario, not far from Niagara Falls. It was founded by a small group of MTB enthusiasts who were also top engineers. Their common trait was an obsession with perfection and a refusal to compromise. Although they now make Stout seatposts and seatpost sleeves in addition to saddlebags, today we'll recap the key component that started it all - telescopic seatposts.

The 9point8 Fall Line telescopic seatposts are intrinsically unique. They are not a branded product that one manufacturer churns out in huge batches under different brand names. There are several years of development behind them, with the first few years being purely about prototyping, testing, and testing (a lot of testing, really). The whole process of debugging is very lengthy with 9point8, but until a given component meets the uncompromising demands of its makers, it is not brought to market. All development, testing and manufacturing is done in their own factory right here in Ancaster.

The 9point8 Fall Line and its little sister, the Fall Line R, have become a guarantee of trouble-free function and long life. They contain no oil bath, so you won't leak anything and the seatpost won't get lazy in cold temperatures either. They operate at 10 times lower pressures than the competition, which essentially eliminates stress on any seals outside the design. They have their own anti-rotation system and their own DropLoc brake. It is protected against abrasion by an extremely durable titanium coating. The control is mechanical (cable) and the guidance is internal. The mechanism for attaching the cable to the seatpost is adapted for bi-directional cable routing. It does not matter whether the cable is on the cable at the seatpost or at the lever.
On the control side, both the Fall Line and Fall Line R are compatible with almost any lever on the market, but 9point8 offers two models of its own lever - the ThumB and Digit. The ThumB lever can be positioned on either side of the handlebars and in three positions (vertically, horizontally above and horizontally below the handlebar). ThumB is ready for the olu (the cable from the olu runs from the lever to the seatpost). The second Digit lever can only be placed on the left side under the handlebar, it is a thumb shift lever design. In the Digit lever, the cable can only end (the side of the cable without the peel).

The Fall Line R is a modified version of the Fall Line. It's lighter, has a redesigned seal system, a simpler overmolding nut for lubricating the slide, which you loosen by hand on the "R".

It also allows three heads to be mounted - straight, offset 25mm (hockey stick), and Forehead, which is offset 25mm forward! The heads are available for both classic saddle skis (round) and oval carbon skis.

The Fall Line model does offer two head options - straight and offset. On the other hand, it has a higher range of strokes and three diameters.

Fall Line - diameters 30,9mm, 31,6mm, 34,9mm and strokes 75-200mm.
Fall Line R - diameters 30,9mm, 31,6mm and strokes 75-150mm.
