Si3N4 ceramic balls reduce bearing wear and increase bearing life by eliminating on contact within the bearing. Black oxide/magnetite treatment to the races provides an extra level of corrosion resistance and extended worry-free performance. VV seals are our lightest contact design, allowing for the fastest spinning bearing we make, though not as protective against the elements as our LLB or LLU type seals. The most common use for this bearing is as a direct replacement bearing for Shimano external cup BBs when using the plastic Shimano bearing insert.
